My son is 15 months old and his hair has grown into a big bushy afro. I'm not cutting his hair anytime soon, but I want to braid it. He's very active and I don't know how to make him sit still while I attempt to braid his bush. Any hints?

put him in a hair chair with toys and spoons a few crackers and fly at it. you probably wont get it all done in one sitting but it does help

Find an educational/entertaining video or TV show for him to watch and braid his hair in intervals. He'll be more patient if you don't try and do it all at once. You n\might also want to give him a reward for sitting still when you are done with a section. My neice is very active and her hair is down to her behind so braiding it takes about 45 minutes but she can't sit still that long so I have to do it a little at a time. Baby Einstein videos would probably work good. My 4 month old loves to watch them.

Get some raw tube pasta and some thin rope. Tie a big knot in one end and have him thread the pasta on. Let him make a loooong door hanging or you can spray paint it gold when hes done and use it on your christmas tree.

When my daughter was that little she would sit still provided there was either something she liked on the tv or she had a toy she felt like playing with. And she was definately an energitic little person. So, I may have had to put on the same Veggie Tales DVD every time I did her hair, but it worked. Why would you want your toddler to sit perfectly still so you can braid his hair? This is not a normal thing to do with a child of that age. Don't expect adult or grown up behaviour form your son when he is a toddler - it will damage him later on in life. Let him have fun and spend fun-time with him. He won't be a child forever ... so enjoy time with him and do things with him.
