Do I just need to spray my hair with braid oil for conditioning with synthetic braids?

I have synthetic hair braids, and I am spraying my hair with conditioning oil. Isn't that all I have to do to keep my hair from drying? Also, I grease my scalp occasionally. I would like to know if you may have braids and your techniques for hair care.
