Does anyone know anything about braiding hair?

Hi,i had been getting my really tight curls chemical straight for 3 years, i give it up as my hair was getting broken and fine so i have about 3 or 4 inches of straight to grow out and my hair will be a curly bob. I was thinking of getting it braided while it grows, with a bit off added lenght added to it with mayb blonde bits as well.. Does this damage hair and wud it help it as im growing it ? At the mo i cant wear it curly because of the straight bits and wearing it straight involves a lot of hot irons and ***** do it everyday so i mostly wear my baseball cap as i have a job outdoors.. Any advice wud be very appreciated..Thanks...

This can be done but I would not suggest adding too much length. You do not want the extra weight pulling too much on your fragile natural hair. Personally I find braids uncomfortable and hardly any styling options. I suggest just you braiding your own hair the mornings you work and putting on your hat. You can blowout your hair for the weekend only. Make sure you use thermal heat protecting products prior. Best of luck.

Yes braids are fine. I would stay away from the tiny micro braids. I hear they break your off around the edges because they are so small.

No it wouldn't break your hair actually it would help your hair because you are not putting any strain on your hair. It will help your hair grow.

yeah, braiding is fine!

I don't think the braiding will damage the shaft of the hair itself, but leaving hair in braids for a lengthy period of time will pull at the roots and you are guaranteed to lose hair at the scalp, even more so if you have extensions weighing it down. just ride out the ugly stages, you'll be glad you did. Hats are cute anyway.

I think braiding it or tight twists (cornrows) would look really nice if u just do the front and let the curls hang out in the back. and since u work outside u wouldnt hafta wear caps any more n it would stay outta ur face. Good luck!

You should first deep condition your hair before braiding because when you add hair, the weaved in hair can cause your hair to break. When you take your braids out, put a conditioner on all over to help comb out the hair that would have naturally shedded but now is tangled in the braids. You must constantly deep condition while wearing breads or your hair will break at the area the hair was chemically straightened.
