Where did braiding hair originate?

Egypt

Where did braiding hair originate?

Could be from different parts of the world at different times independently. Among them, definitely, Africa and Asia.

Bariding was necessary for beauty and keeping hair under control.

Where did braiding hair originate?

im not sure. But thats a good question.

Where did braiding hair originate?

The first known mention of Braids were called broids. In a Bible 1 Timothy 2:9 it speeks of the women wearing there hair in broids or braids.

it could have easily been somewhere near Isreal, Jerusalem,

The Middle East Somewhere...

Where did braiding hair originate?

I think this is hard to say since people have been doing it for so long. One example of braided hair is in a small fertility symbol of a nude women called "The Venus of Willendorf." Included in the detail of the figure are rings of braided hair. The piece was found in Austria at the turn of the last century and has been dated to 15,000 to 10,000 BCE. But my guess is that people have been doing it longer than that - perhaps since the dawn of man.
